POETRY FRIDAY: Nasty Characters

Nasty Characters
By Steven Withrow

Look—
If I had to be
Locked in a book,
I’d like to be trapped
With that crook Cap'n
Hook.

Heroes—
They’re boring.
I find myself snoring
Or downright
Ignoring those
Zeroes.

In short,
If a plotter
Gives me Harry Potter,
I’d rather resort
To Lord Vol-de-
Mort.

Best,
In a pinch,
Is the Grinch
Or the wickedest
Witch of the
West.

Still,
Stick me in a tale,
Like Jonah in a whale.
I’m Jack—and my Jill
Is Cruella de
Vil!

indeed! i've never identified with heroes, which may be why i'm always more interested in writing about secondary characters!

but just t be clear, these are the characters you'd want to be in books, not in real life, yes?

Aww, but I love heroes too! Along with villains! Haha. Nice nice poem. Love visiting here every Friday.

Yep. Good villains are essential. But I do love a good hero, too. Fun poem.
